Upcoming Mental Health First Aid Trainings
In the coming weeks United Services plans on offering a new round of Mental Health First Aid Trainings available to professionals and members of the public. Trainings are typically offered as a series of three, 4-hour trainings that will take place at United Services Clinical Health Center in Dayville.
The cost of the full 12 hour certified training is $150 per person. Depending on available funding, partial scholarships may be available to a limited number of participants.
Mental Health First Aid has been widely acclaimed by first responders (police, fire, rescue) educators, corporate managers, business owners, human resource professionals, healthcare workers and the members of the community. The 12-hour training helps individuals who don’t have clinical training to assist someone in immediate need of mental health support or referral. The training, serving as the CPR equivalent for Mental Health, allows one to support an individual until appropriate professional help can be provided.
Mental Health First Aid is promoted by the National Council for Community Behavioral Healthcare with many professions now offering Continue Education Unit (CEU) credits for those who complete the training. Please contact John Goodman at 860-774-2020 or via email at jgoodman@usmhs.org to learn more about these or future training sessions.
