School Violence Prevention provides programming to students who have either threatened or used physical violence on school property or at school sponsored events.

The program consists of ten hours of counseling either in individual or group sessions.  Counseling in both anger management and nonviolent conflict resolution is offered that addresses consequences and choices, violence and anger identification and control, tolerance for differences and acceptance of responsibility for one’s own actions.

The program uses the curriculum, “Tough Choices,” which includes building character, managing anger and strengthening self-esteem.  The material is delivered through activities, written materials, role-play and videos.

Eligibility:  Youth and young adults, ages ten through twenty-one, referred by CSSD and residing in the Willimantic/Danielson court catchment area.

Funding is provided by the Court Support Services Division of the State of Connecticut Judicial Branch.
