This is a great opportunity for young people ages 16-24 who are passionate about making a difference in their communities and empowering their peers through education, engagement, and prevention efforts.<\/p>\n<p>As a Youth Peer Advocate, you will collaborate with local prevention coalitions, participate in leadership opportunities, and help raise awareness about substance misuse prevention and mental health through peer-to-peer outreach and community initiatives.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Location:<\/strong> 140 North Frontage Road, Mansfield Center, CT 06250<\/p>\n<p><strong>Why Join Us:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This role offers a unique opportunity to develop leadership skills, gain valuable advocacy experience, and make a meaningful impact in your community. Through training, mentorship, and real-world experience, Youth Peer Advocates play an active role in building healthier communities.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What You Will Do (Day-to-Day):<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Participate in and represent your Local Prevention Council (LPC) at monthly Governor&#8217;s Prevention Partnership (GPP) Youth Advisory Board meetings.<\/li>\n<li>Serve on at least one GPP Youth Advisory Board subcommittee.<\/li>\n<li>Assist the coalition in implementing the Strategic Prevention Framework (SPF).<\/li>\n<li>Participate in coalition meetings and prevention-related activities.<\/li>\n<li>Engage peers in discussions about substance use prevention and healthy decision-making.<\/li>\n<li>Support community outreach and prevention initiatives.<\/li>\n<li>Assist in developing media campaigns targeting youth and parents.<\/li>\n<li>Collaborate with community partners and diverse populations.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Schedule: <\/strong>5 to 20 hours per week.
