This position plays a vital role in implementing prevention strategies aimed at reducing substance use among school-age youth and strengthening the health and well-being of our local communities.<\/p>\n<p>The ideal candidate enjoys working with diverse groups of people and is comfortable engaging with school staff, business owners, town employees, parents, students, and other community stakeholders. We are committed to fostering strong community partnerships and supporting innovative approaches that promote resilience, mental wellness, and long-term positive outcomes for youth.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What You Will Do (Day-to-Day):<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Coordinate the Partnership in Connecticut Communities (PCC) program and related prevention initiatives.<\/li>\n<li>Build, maintain, and strengthen a community coalition focused on substance misuse prevention.<\/li>\n<li>Collaborate with schools, businesses, municipal agencies, parents, youth, and community partners to support prevention efforts.<\/li>\n<li>Plan and coordinate outreach, education, and community engagement activities.<\/li>\n<li>Support youth peer advocates and youth leadership initiatives.<\/li>\n<li>Promote awareness of substance misuse prevention and mental health resources.<\/li>\n<li>Track program activities and prepare required reports and documentation.<\/li>\n<li>Participate in continuing education and professional development opportunities.<\/li>\n<li>Represent United Services at community meetings, events, and coalition activities.<\/li>\n<li>Support agency-wide initiatives related to prevention, wellness, and community health.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Schedule: <\/strong>Monday through Friday 9:00 a.m.-5:30 p.m. ( some evening and weekends hours may be required based on program need).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Minimum Requirements: <\/strong>A Bachelor\u2019s degree in health education, community or public health, human services, or a related field plus two years relevant experience.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Required:<\/strong> Certified Prevention Specialist (CPS) or willing to obtain certification<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Must reside, work, or have a direct connection to a grant-identified town.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Preferred: <\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>At least one year of experience working in substance use prevention or a similar<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>public health planning model.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Experience and knowledge of community resources and behavioral health treatment<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>systems.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Working knowledge of community resources and behavioral health treatment systems.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Hourly Pay Range:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>$19.00 \u2013 $21.50 per hour (depending on experience).<\/p>\n<p>Bilingual\/ Spanish Fluency: $19.96 \u2013 $22.59 per hour (depending on experience).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Benefits Package:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Comprehensive benefit package for medical, dental, and vision coverage for the employee and their family<\/li>\n<li>Life, AD &amp; D, short-term and long-term disability insurance plans \u2013 100% employer paid<\/li>\n<li>Four weeks of paid vacation<\/li>\n<li>12 paid holidays<\/li>\n<li>Paid Sick time<\/li>\n<li>Flexible Spending Accounts for healthcare and dependent care reimbursement<\/li>\n<li>Professional Development Funds<\/li>\n<li>403B Thrift Plan (tax-deferred) with employer contribution and match after one year of employment<\/li>\n<li>Employee Assistance Program<\/li>\n<li>Mileage Reimbursement<\/li>\n<li>United Services is a designated employer for the National Health Services Corps loan repayment and scholarship programs<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>*Benefits will be pro-rated for eligible part-time positions<\/p>\n<p><strong>Work Location<\/strong>: Because our clients rely on face-to-face support to build trust, this position is fully in-person and office based.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Important Employment Requirement:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>All employees of United Services, Inc. are required to receive the influenza (flu) vaccine each year, unless a medical exemption has been submitted and approved by our Medical Director.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>United Services Inc. &#8212; Join Our Team!<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Do you want to make a direct impact in the lives of children, families and adults with social and behavioral health needs?
