Community Living Counselor – Milner House Group Home

United Services is seeking dedicated and compassionate Community Living Counselor to join our team at Milner House, a licensed transitional living program serving adults in mental health recovery. Milner House is a 14-bed, intensively staffed residential program that helps individuals with severe and prolonged mental illness develop the skills necessary to live independently in the community.

Licensed by the Connecticut Department of Public Health, the program provides 24-hour support across three awake shifts. As a Community Living Counselor, you will work as part of a multidisciplinary team, providing individual support, group counseling, skill development, and daily living assistance that promotes recovery, independence, and community integration.

What You Will Do (Day-to-Day):

  • Monitor and support medication management activities.
  • Transport individuals to appointments, community activities, and other essential services.
  • Assist individuals in addressing medical and psychiatric needs.
  • Prepare and facilitate educational, recovery-focused, and skill-building groups.
  • Provide one-to-one interventions consistent with individual treatment plans.
  • Assist with meal preparation and promote healthy daily living skills.
  • Provide individual and group counseling and support.
  • Respond to crises and conduct risk assessments as needed.
  • Function as an active member of the treatment team.
  • Coordinate care with providers, family members, and other supports as appropriate.
  • Complete required documentation, progress notes, and reports in a timely manner.
  • Assist with maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming residential environment.
  • Teach and support the development of daily living, social, and emotional skills.

Minimum Requirements:

Associate’s degree plus two years of appropriate experience required or Bachelor’s degree in relevant human services field.

  • Valid driver’s license
  • Reliable transportation
  • Ability to transport clients in a personal vehicle

Schedule: Full-time, Tuesday through Saturday, 12:30 p.m.-9:00 p.m. (2nd shift)

Hourly Pay Range: $19.00 – $21.50 (depending on experience)

Bilingual Spanish/English Fluency: $19.96 – $22.59 (depending on experience)

Work Location: This position requires employees to be fully present in the office and in the community.
