Peer Recovery Specialist- Addiction Recovery Services (Dayville, CT)

United Services, Inc. is seeking a full-time Peer Recovery Specialist to work in our Addiction Recovery Services Program. This position provides peer-based support to individuals seeking recovery from substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders. Drawing upon personal recovery experience and a person-centered approach, the Peer Recovery Specialist serves as a source of encouragement, advocacy, education, and support while helping individuals identify and achieve self-directed recovery goals.

Working collaboratively with prescribers, clinicians, and community partners, the Peer Recovery Specialist helps strengthen wraparound services, connects clients with community resources, and promotes wellness and recovery through coaching, outreach, and engagement activities.

What You Will Do:

  • Provide peer support, mentoring and encouragement to individuals participating in Addiction Recovery Services.
  • Use lived recovery experience to inspire hope and support self-directed recovery goals.
  • Collaborate with clinicians, prescribers, and other treatment team members to support coordinated care.
  • Assist clients in accessing community resources, support services, and recovery-oriented programs.
  • Provide education related to substance use recovery, wellness, and health promotion.
  • Conduct outreach and maintain relationships with community agencies and service providers.
  • Support individuals in developing coping strategies, self-advocacy skills, and recovery plans

Schedule: Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., one weekly shift from 10:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in a related field or an Associate’s Degree in a related field plus 4 years of direct service experience or High School Diploma/equivalent plus 6 years of relevant experience required.

*Certification: Certified as a Recovery Support Specialist or Recovery Coach through Advocacy Unlimited (AU) or Connecticut Community for Addiction Recovery (CCAR) or Hartford Healthcare (HHC) or from a DMHAS Approved Training Organization

*Must be able to obtain Peer Support and Recovery Specialist Recovery Specialist Certification within one year of employment.

Salary Range:

$19.00-$21.50 per hour (depending on experience)

Bilingual Spanish/English Fluency: $19.96 – $22.59 (depending on experience)

Job Location: Because our clients rely on face-to-face supports, this position requires employees to be fully present in the office.
