United Services’ Youth Service Bureau (YSB) is the designated coordinating authority for all youth services in 6 towns in Northeastern Connecticut. The Youth Diversion Team is a system designed to divert youth from involvement in the juvenile justice system. Prevention and early support help reduce involvement with the juvenile justice system, improve academic success, and strengthen family relationships.

Who We Serve

Youth Service Bureau programs serve children, adolescents, and families in the following Connecticut towns who may be experiencing behavioral challenges, family conflict, school-related concerns, or other stressors that impact healthy development: Brooklyn, Canterbury, Eastford, Killingly, Plainfield and Sterling.

Services Offered

YSB services emphasize early intervention, collaboration, and strengths-based support. Programs work closely with families, schools, and community partners to promote stability, accountability, and positive outcomes. Services are designed to strengthen families, reduce risk, and promote positive youth development.

  • Youth and family counseling
  • School-based prevention and intervention programs
  • Truancy prevention and early intervention
  • Parent education and family support
  • Community-based youth development initiatives
